Answer all questions.Each question carries 4 marks


  1. Draw a block diagram and explain the different phases of the problem solving loop.
  2. Explain the fire process maturity levels as defined by the software engineering institute.
  3. "Effective software management focusses on the four P's".What or who are the four P's and how relevant are them in software management?
  4. Explain the processes of obtaining the information necessary for defining the software scope of a software project.
  5. Draw a block diagram and explain the pyramid structure of the Software Resources involved in software development.
  6. Explain the RMMM plan.
  7. Explain timeline chart and project table in the context of project scheduling.
  8. What are the questions to be asked and answered during a Configuration Audit?
  9. Explain Baseline in the context of software engineering.
  10. How can the risks involved in a software project can be identified?
PART-B
Answer any one full question from each Module.Each full question carries 20 marks
Module-I
  11.Discuss the various software myths from the perspective of
a)The management   b)The customer and  c)The practitioner
  12.Describe the linear sequential model and explain its chief merits and demerits.
Module-II
  13.Discuss various types of basic size-oriented metrics and function-oriented metrics.Also explain how one can extend the basic function-point metrics in situations where the basic one proves to be inadequate.
 14.a)Using the COCOMO II methodology estimate the Effort required for building an Automated Teller Machine Software for a bank.The ATM produces 12 simple screens.12 simple reports and needs 80 difficult 3 GL software components.Assume nominal values for
                         i) Developer's experience/quality
                        ii) Enviornment maturity/capability and assume a value of 20 for % reuse.
     b)Explain the six generic function to be included any Automated Estimation Tool used in the field of software development.
Module-III
15.Write on:
       a) Software safety
       b)Software Reliability
       c)SQA plan
       d)SCM and
       e)ISO 9000 Quality Standards.
16.Describe the process of identifying the major tasks involved in a software project.Explain how those tasks can be decomposed into a set of sub tasks that can be linked to the project milestones.
